6th grade-
We will be reviewing chapter 2 in class on Monday. Our chapter 2 test will be on Tuesday. We will be analyzing rocks and minerals on Wednesday, so please be sure to bring in your 3 samples that day.
7th grade-
We will begin our discussions of volcanoes. We will use water and oil to see how magma rises to the surface because of density differences. We will also be modeling our own volcanoes with clay.
8th grade-
Chapter 16 test on Monday. We will then begin climate. We will use a jigsaw activity to present the material to each other on Friday.
In 6-8 grade science, we will be using an integrated curriculum to study all branches of science; Earth, Life, and Physical. Week of 9-26 to 9-30
6th grade-
We will be completing section posters to the present to the class regarding matter. We will also be working with scientific instruments such as triple beam balances, thermometers, graduated cylinders and meter sticks.
7th grade-
We will be presenting our section posters to the class regarding earthquakes. We will have our chapter 11 test on Thursday.
8th grade-
In eight grade, we will be completing our own computer models for weather, we will also present our chapter section posters.

Week of 9-20 to 9-24
6th grade-
We are completing our Chapter 1 material through completion of posters illustrating Earth Science instruments. We have researched inventors, uses, and reasons why they have aided in the study of the Earth. We will be presenting these for our Chapter 1 assessment.
7th grade-
We have completed our studies of Plate tectonics with our chapter test on Tuesday. We will now begin discussing earthquakes. We will devise our own earthquake survival kits.
8th grade-
We have taken our chapter test on the atmosphere. We will next be discussing weather. We will be analyzing the forecast for the upcoming week, as well as working with station models in the near future.

First Week (9-12 to 9-16)
The first few days have started off great in all of our science classes. I look forward to a successful year for all.
In sixth grade, we will begin our discussions about the nature of science. We will be analyzing a magazine article later in the week. Therefore, please be sure to bring your science magazine article to class with you on Thursday the 15th.
In seventh grade, we will begin our study of plate tectonics. We will be conducting a lab in which we see how heating of a fluid causes it to move.
Finally, in eigth grade, we will begin our atmosphere lessons. We will be analyzing sunscreens to determine various characteristics of them. Please be sure to bring your sunscreen with you to class on Wednesday the 14th.
