12-5 to 12-9

6th-
We will be introducing water erosion and will be creating a few posters to illustrate the concepts found in this chapter. On Friday, we will be working on a lab that involves classifying and describing different types of sand.

7th-
We will be having our chapter 10 test on Monday. We will then introduce Force and Newton's Laws. We will be introducing these laws by using a ramp to show how the steepness effects the velocity of a marble.

8th-
We will be beginning our studies of Physical Science this week. Our first chapter, chapter 6, will involve atomic structure and chemical bonding. We will be reviewing for our test on Friday.

Monday, November 28, 2011

11-28 to 12-2

6th-
We will be discussing Water Erosion and Deposition this week. We will finish the week by creating a poster illustrating major concepts learned throughout the chapter on Friday.

7th-
This is our first week of Physics. We will be discussing Motion and Forces. We will be reviewing for our first chapter test on Friday and our test on chapter 10 will be on Monday.

8th-
We will be concluding our studies of Earth Science and moving into Physics. We will be conducting an egg drop experiment on Wed-Fri.

Thursday, November 17, 2011

11-21 to 11-23

6th-
We will be completing our chapter on soil Monday. We will be reviewing for our test on Tuesday and our Chapter 7 test will be on Wednesday.

7th-
We will be introducing our new physics book through the use of an egg drop lab. Students will be creating "capsules" that house an egg from a fall of approximately 6 feet. Their goal is to stop the egg from breaking.

8th-
We will be introducing our final chapter in our earth science textbook; pollution of air and water. We will be modeling water pollution with the use of food coloring and water. We will also be discussing types of air and water pollution and their effects.

I hope everyone as a great Thanksgiving!

Monday, November 7, 2011

11-14 to 11-18

6th-
Our chapter test on Views of Earth will be Monday. We will then be introducing weather and soil. At the end of the week, students will need to bring in a small soil sample from home that we will analyze by creating a soil ribbon.

7th-
We will be discussing the human impact on air and water. We will be conducting an ongoing experiment in which we will be collecting particulate matter from the air to look at under the microscope. We will have our chapter 21 test on Friday.

8th-
We will be completing our chapter on human impact with regards to the land. We will be disussing ways to conserve resources and the possible outcomes of how what we do today will impact others in the future. Our chapter 20 test will be on Thursday.

11-7 to 11-9

6th-
students will define latitude and longitude and explain how these are useful for finding exact locations
students will discuss different landforms found on earth

7th-
We will be reviewing our chapter 20 material on Monday. We will be having our chapter 20 test on Wednesday. The review completed in class on Monday will be a good study guide for the test.

8th-
We will be introducing our impact on land in 8th grade. We will be creating a drawing and then adding dots, representing the increase in population density. We will be graphing our findings.
