WELCOME TO THE NEW YEAR!
6th-We will be continuing our chapter 1 material this week, the nature of science. We will be discussing scientific methods, various types of models, as well as promotional claims and misleading terms.
7th-We will be beginning our new chapter, Waves. We will learn about frequency and wavelength of a wave, as well as how waves can be reflected. We will also observe a wave with use of a slinky.
8th-We are going to be identifying this week how compounds are formed. We will also be explaining the importance of organic molecules in your body and defining why eating a balanced diet is healthy.

Week of 12-17 to 12-21
6th-We will be introducing our physical science book this week. We will be working with a scavenger hunt in the beginning of the book to familiarize ourself with it. We will then discuss the nature of science, gravity, variables, hypothesis, scientific methods, etc. We will analyze the 2 branches of science and makes posters that demonstrate and illustrate each as well.
7th-This week we will be talking about forces and fluids. We will discuss hydraulic pressure, bouyancy, and other fluid related phenomena. We will be reviewing chapter 12 on Wednesday, with our test being held Thursday.
8th-We will be comparing and contrasting substances and mixtures this week. We will discuss acids and bases and how to relate the potency of each. We will also be working with reactions and how temperature can effect the rate of reaction. We will be reviewing chapter 8 material on Thursday, with our test being held Friday.
I would like to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday. Enjoy!

Week of 12-10 to 12-14
6th-This week, we will be completing our earth science unit with a review of chapter 9, Water Erosion and Deposition, on Monday. We will then be having our test on Tuesday. For the remainder of the week, we will be introducing our Physics unit through the use of the egg drop lab in which students will be designing capsules to protect an egg from a fall of roughly 20 feet.
7th-We will be completing our Chapter 11 material this week. On Monday, we will be working in the lab on balloon races, which illustrate Newton's Third Law of Motion. On Tuesday, we will be reviewing our chapter 11 material in preparation for our chapter 11 test on Wednesday. We will then begin Chapter 12, Forces and Fluids.
8th-We will be having our chapter 6 test on Monday, Atomic Arrangement. Students have a study guide we completed on Friday to study from. They will also be using notes that we have been taking throughout the previous week. We will then begin our chapter on chemical reactions, chapter 7. We will be working on a poster project for this chapter. On Friday, we will be discussing the use of synthetic diamonds, as well as presenting our chapter posters.
